| "Sunset On The Lanai," designed by Rose Riggins of Inside Outlook,
Inc. won Deborah Foundation Designers' Show House 2001 people's choice award and
best in the category for "Special Spaces." Rose was pleasantly surprised
and thankful to all who came to visit the showhouse and placed a vote for her
design of a sunroom. |
Before and Afters of the Deborah Designer Show House
2001

Ceiling
The wonderful curved ceiling was the perfect canvas for our
mural and faux artist to create his representation of a sunset and masonry garden
walls, creating a background for the designers "exotic theme". |
Front-facing Wall
Multiple windows and an old-fashioned radiator created a bit
of a challenge to our designer as she tried to keep the integrity of the homes
historic architecture while breathing new life into its basic frames. The woven
roman-style shades let just enough light in to provide warmth, but still allow
for privacy as the day draws to a close. Skirting the radiators in a complementary
fabric to the helmet draperies hid the radiator while still allowing it to be
functional.

Rear Wall
Large tropical plants and a chaise lounge cushioned with custom
upholstered pillows provide atmosphere and a place to sit back and enjoy the view. |
Rear-facing Wall
The rear-facing windows give a wonderful view of the backyard
landscaping. Because of this, two woven rattan chairs give gentle support and
are comfortable enoughto sit in all day to enjoy the scenery. A planter was converted
into a table by simply getting a glass cover to set a tropical refreshment or
exotic plant.

Close-up
of Drapery wth Monkey Hardware
A tropical themed fabric was chosen for the floor-length
panels, while a contrasting striped beaded swag hangs across the top. The draperies
are suspended from an authentic bamboo pole and adorned with monkey hardware,
keeping with the tropical theme and adding an Asian touch.

Elephant
wall sconces and floor sculptures, a faux plant, teak birdcage, and cane barrel
chair with matching ottoman all come together as additional pieces completing
the flavor of the exotic.
