Rose Riggins came up with the design for the room to bridge the indoors and
outdoors. To try to simulate this idea, a fixed window awning was placed above
the window where a utility shelf once stood. To create a restful place, a window
seat was made using a cushioned bench. Another addition to depicting the outdoors
was the beautiful mural of an open window with period clothes on a clothesline.
Real lace curtains were hung on swing rods to juxtapose reality with fantasy.
Deborah Hospital sponsors an annual Designers' Show House. In 2000, Inside
Outlook, Inc. was pleased to participate by bringing life to an ordinary Laundry
Room.
As this 21st century laundry room was transformed into an 18th century French
countryside, breathe in the warm summer day while enjoying the soft billowy breezes
that remind you of the cushions surrounding you in your special place of retreat.
Relax and enjoy the view amongst the wildflowers and butterflies while lounging
under a comforting awning sipping lemonade and reading your favorite novel.
Your own private resplendent-respite awaits you as you escape the real world and
its everyday stress. If only for a little while allow yourself to forget the necessary
chore at hand. |
